Here we are together.
Unfortunately, less than two months later, she went missing. Someone took her. And some other choice items, like necklaces and bracelets. I won't go into details, but needless to say, it was not a good time.
I found myself in a very sad state that I will call photography depression. For a month I was completely disinclined to participate in Digital Photography School Weekend Challenges, or to contribute photos to the iffles.com group on Flickr. I didn't even take any new photos for the blog and totally slacked off by posting older photos, even though I still have a perfectly good point-and-shoot digital camera.
Luckily for me, the last apartment complex I lived in required me to get renter's insurance when I resigned my lease. When I moved into the house where I live now, I kept it, figuring it was probably a good idea to have. I did not think that I would actually have to use it. I am SO GLAD I have renter's insurance! I would not have been able to replace the camera with out it.
Last week, I got the insurance money from my claim and headed to Best Buy to purchase another Canon Eos Rebel T1i. Even though it's the exact same model, it still feels kind of weird. Like it's not quite my camera yet. I think we just need to spend some more time together.
It seemed appropriate to name the camera after this ordeal, and Dexter popped into mind right away. I think it's fitting, don't you?
Next replacement purchase? A new card. Suggestions on what kind to get are welcome.
Thank you, Archstone Apartments, for making me get renter's insurance. Thank you, USAA, for the good policy and helping me reverse my photography depression.
I promise to be a more proactive photographer. Dexter and I will be very busy the rest of the summer!
